These exquisite feathers are the coronas- the crest or crown feathers of the peacock. It is unusual to find them and they are very special! These to the right are very colorful and large and gleam in the light. They are about 1.5" - 2" tall. Peahens have coronas too, which are a green, more muted color than for the male's crown feathers. They are used for fly tying and decoration and collections of peacock feathers- the crowning touch! |
